Balance is essential for any Wellness Policy. Key areas include:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Physical activity
  • Other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness

If you are interested in participating in the review of, updating of or implementation of our wellness policy, please contact Rita Casper, Director of Nursing.

Hosting a Classroom Party?

In accordance with the district's wellness policy, as well as state and federal regulations, any competitive foods or beverages served to students during the school day must meet a certain set of nutritional standards.

When hosting a classroom party, please check out The John C. Stalker Institute's "A-list" for a detailed list of acceptable products that meet these nutritional guidelines.

Have a snack in mind, but don't see it on the A-list? Go to The John C. Stalker Institute's MassNETS tool to enter the product's nutritional information to determine if it is compliant with state and federal standards.

If you want more information about snacks in schools, check out the "At A Glance" sheet or contact the Andover Food & Nutrition Service Office at 978-247-5520.

NOTE: Massachusetts has stricter guidelines than the USDA so any competitive foods or beverages served in Andover Public Schools must adhere to the stricter Massachusetts standards.
